Spirometry in the workplace – SASOM Guideline 15

Webinar Series

The revised, new, and different health surveillance SASOM Guideline 15 – ‘Spirometry in the Workplace’ with the endorsement of the SA Thoracic Society (SATS) were finalised and made available to SASOM members in July 2021.

During the month of August 2021, SASOM offered its members a series of free CPD-accredited training webinars based on the new SASOM Guideline 15, titled ‘Spirometry in the Workplace with the endorsement of the SA Thoracic Society (SATS).

The webinars were presented by Sr Lindsay Zurba, respiratory nurse practitioner and director and training manager of Education for Health Africa (www.educationforhealth.africa), and covered the following topics:

 

  • 17 August 2021 – Introduction, quality assurance and quality control in spirometry
  • 19 August 2021 – Preparing for and conducting a spirometry test
  • 24 August 2021 – Evaluation of the test result for validity
  • 26 August 2021 – Interpretation, reporting and record keeping
